Sample #3

imaginary flight in a space ship

Write a letter to your sister/friend about a real or imaginary flight in a space shuttle.

Dear Sara,

Hello! How are you? I am overjoyed to let you know about my Space Voyage. A few days back, my teacher Jane gave us a brief overview of the first space traveller, Dennis Tito. It was a component of our new lesson. The next day she came up with a plan to invite us on a fictitious flight to Venus in a space shuttle.

My classmates and I were excited to go on this trip, yet, the initial preparations were the barrier to continuing this voyage. Thus, we prepared ourselves accordingly.

Before departing, we went through a rigorous 10-day training programme designed by the Russian Space Agency engineers and the tour operator Space Adventures. Next, we underwent an extensive medical examination and training on the Soyuz Simulator. We did not eat anything the next day, as advised by NASA scientists, before boarding the space shuttle.

Following the travelling regulations, every passenger must wear a spacesuit. So, we put on this heavy spacesuit with an oxygen cylinder, mask and helmet. The design of these specific garments was in such a manner that permitted us to survive in space. Likewise, I expanded my vocabulary by prefixing everything with ‘space’ like the space telescope, space-time, space travel and space vehicle. Those were a few words which I remembered, and I will explain them at a later date.

In my opinion, anyone fancying a holiday in space must realize that it costs quite a fortune: twenty-five million United States dollars and a 10-day rigorous training programme. In a nutshell, I experienced travelling in a space shuttle which is a rocket. It can land like an unpowered aircraft, usually for constructing repeated journeys between the earth and the space station. It was a worthwhile journey, I can not express my feelings over here, though. Soon, I will share my entire journey experience in my upcoming letter.

Yours lovingly,

Jenny
